☁ Cool wisp!
Astro_Kayla recently shared this photo from 250 miles above the Earth from aboard the ISS, which gets some incredible views of our fluffy atmospheric friends worldwide.
Clouds aren't just photogenic. They play an essential part in climate; they are a crucial component of the water cycle, and by reflecting and insulating radiation from the Sun, clouds both warm and cool our planet.
Many Earth-observing satellites are researching the role that clouds play in climate. From Aqua, which studies precipitation, evaporation, and cycling of water, to Terra, which provides data on the state of the atmosphere, land, and oceans, each satellite monitors the delicate intricacies that make up our ecosystem.
