Roughly 4,000 light-years from Earth, the Lagoon Nebula gives astronomers an excellent opportunity to study young stars. Many infant stars give off high-energy light, including X-rays, and they’re seen here in pink based off data from our NASAChandraXray space telescope.
The combined X-ray data, courtesy of the Mt. Lemmon Sky Center in Arizona, produces this blue and white image.
