Weathering the storm together 🤝 As tropical storm Elsa made its way through the Caribbean Sea, NASAAstronauts Astro.Megan shared this image taken aboard the International Space Station (ISS) on July 4, 2021. 📌Using the vantage of space June 1 marked the official start of the Atlantic hurricane season, and after a record number of named storms in the Atlantic basin, we help by providing insights and updates on hurricanes and other extreme weather events collected by our fleet of 20+ Earth-observing satellites. 📌Through partnership In our collaboration with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), we design, build and launch their suite of satellites that provide the data that specifically feed numerical weather prediction models. We’re helping bridge the gap between data and the people who need it. Before, during and after a hurricane or a tropical storm like Elsa makes landfall, NASA satellites are in a prime position to identify impact. Credit: NASA / Megan ...
