🌎 There’s no place like home! Swipe to see some smiles. 💙
After 168 days in space, 2,688 orbits of Earth, and 71,242,199 miles traveled, NASAAstronauts AstroVicGlover, Mike Hopkins, Shannon Walker, and Astro.Soichi of JAXAjp arrived home aboard SpaceX’s Dragon Resilience spacecraft at 2:56 a.m. EDT (06:56 UTC) today. During their time on the ISS, the crew completed hundreds of hours of research experiments benefiting humans in space and on Earth.
In the most fitting fashion, their historic mission which certified the return of astronaut launches from the U.S. ended with an equally historic nighttime splashdown off the coast of Panama City, Florida. It was the first and only other nighttime splashdown of a U.S. spacecraft with crew on board since Apollo 8’s return in 1968.
👏 Let’s give our Crew-1 astronauts a hand! Welcome home!
