Before we send
#Artemis astronauts to the Moon, we have to make sure all systems are go.
Starting at 7am ET on Tuesday, July 2, the launch window will open for Ascent Abort-2, the second and final test of the Orion spacecraft's launch abort system that is designed to pull the capsule away from its Space Launch System rocket in case of an emergency during its ascent. A full-scale test version of the Orion crew module will launch atop a booster at over 1,000 mph to an altitude of six miles. The mission is a critical step in our progress as we prepare to send the first woman and the next man to the Moon by 2024.
