What a beauty?! 😍 During its 16th close flyby of the gas giant planet, our NASAJuno spacecraft captured colorful swirling clouds in Jupiter's North Equatorial Belt. At the time, Juno was about 2,100 miles from the planet's cloud tops. In other words, the spacecraft was about as close to Jupiter as San Francisco is to Chicago, which is quite close when racing over a planet that's 11 times wider than Earth. Since 2016, Juno has been penetrating Jupiter's deep, colorful zones and belts in a quest to answer fundamental questions about the planet’s origin and evolution.
