Hurricane Lane’s swirling clouds and distinct eye show their magnitude in these views from the vantage point of the International Space Station (ISS). These images were captured 250 miles above Earth by NASA astronaut Ricky Arnold (Astro_Ricky) as the station passed over the Pacific Ocean on Wednesday. He posted them on social media saying, “#HurricaneLane in the early morning hours near #Hawaii. The crew of the space station sends much aloha to everyone there.” The Category 5 storm is heading toward the Hawaiian Islands, where warnings and watches are in effect.
