Don’t miss our 7:05 a.m. EDT launch to Mars to give the Red Planet its first thorough checkup since it formed 4.5 billion years ago! Seen here, the mobile service tower at Space Launch Complex-3 is rolled back to reveal the United Launch Alliance (ULAlaunch) Atlas-V rocket with our InSight spacecraft onboard. Our InSight lander is scheduled to launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base on California's Pacific coast aboard the two-stage rocket for a six-month journey to Mars. This mission, our first interplanetary launch from the west coast, will detect “marsquakes” and help us discover how rocky planets form. NASA TV launch coverage will begin at 6:30 a.m. EDT on air and streaming at go.nasa.gov/2HXCAGb.
