Free Tasting of Altovinum's Evodia Old Vines Garnacha Calatayud - Spain
Thursday October 11th, 5pm - 8pm
Altovinum's Evodia Old Vines Garnacha Calatayud
It has lively raspberry aromas with hints of lead pencil and grilled herb plus flavors that are lively and ripe, but balanced with minerality acidity. Gorgeous red/purple color, effusive nose of black cherry, spice, kirsch, stones.
Garnacha is the Spanish name for Grenache, the dominant grape used in France for Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
This wine is 100% old-vine Garnacha, located at altitudes between 2,400 to 3,000 feet in the mountains of the Calatayud region in Northern Spain, even more interesting is that the soil here is pure schist the same soil one can find in the Priorat and in Maury. This is the highest part of the DO of Calatayud. The vines were planted more than 70 years ago in dense slate soil. This unique terroir and the old vines of Garnacha rooted in it, are the origins of Evodia.
