Every day, elephants continue to be threatened in the wild by the trade for their ivory. While most ivory markets around the world have closed or are in the process of closing, Japan remains the last major legal ivory market. Elephants need the Japanese government - and the local Tokyo government - to join the international community and close their market. I support a new report from WildAid and the Japan Tiger & Elephant Fund, which shows that domestic ivory sales in Japan help supply illegal exports of ivory to other countries. yuriko.koike tokyo_gov: Please end ivory sales and help protect the world’s elephants.
