Today, we join countless transgender and non-binary people in South Dakota, the United States, and around the globe in observing International Transgender Day of Visibility. Knowing the challenges that the transgender/non-binary community faces here and around the globe, it is absolutely essential that our communities show up as allies for transgender people and recognize their presence in our communities.ā

Transgender and non-binary people are people. They are our children, our siblings, our parents, our classmates, our relatives, our co-workers, our leaders, our friends, our fellow community members. They make a difference daily in our lives. They are making contributions to our society that can't be replaced or replicated.ā

And they also face discrimination and stigma at rates that are real, harmful, and dehumanizing. And that isn't okay.ā
