This is my boy Beacon. He was born in a wrestling singlet. He had his first pair of wrestling shoes before he could even say the words “double leg”.  From the day he was born, the wrestling world embraced him. He was the designated golden child of wrestling; people called him “Baby Champ,” and said some day he’d be better than his Dad. In his eight years of life, there’s already been a ton of pressure on him to follow in my footsteps.  As my wife Lauren and I raise him, we are doing our best to allow him the freedom to choose the activities he’d like to pursue. He chooses certain sports and endeavors and we try our best to give him the ability to grow at his own pace while still helping him understand the value of hard work and overcoming discomfort.
