After St. Louis County Executive Sam Page’s Sept. 9 ruling that continues limits on competition for contact sports due to coronavirus concerns, protesters headed to his Creve Coeur residence. As demonstrators began to gather in the area, someone looked through the glass of the front door of Page’s home. The group that showed up demonstrated on a nearby street, since Page’s street is private property. Senior cheerleader Maddy Burnet was one of about a dozen Lafayette community members in attendance. She said, “We wanted to do this to bring some pressure on the idea. We know we don’t get school back any time soon or sports back anytime soon, but maybe by putting some pressure and saying we’re not okay with this and maybe getting the media involved it would shorten the time span that we can’t play.”
