The Central American Squirrel Monkey is the smallest monkey found in Costa Rica. They usually live in groups of 20-75 monkeys, and they’ve been known to travel up to 14,000 feet per day. They eat everything from fruits and flowers, to lizards and tree frogs, and spend 2/3 of their day looking for food. Sadly though because of deforestation, hunting, and trapping for pets, they have become endangered and it is now estimated only about 5,000 remain.
