Today we start the Themis A to Z of Apprenticeships A – Apprenticeships An Apprenticeship is a paid job at a company where the employee is also learning and gaining experience toward a qualification. Breaking it down further it means usually you will spend around 80% of your working week on the job – be it on a factory floor, in an office, in a school or wherever your chosen career takes you. The other approximately 20% of your time will be spent in a classroom or workshop-style learning situation, for example in the Centre of Manufacturing and Engineering Excellence at Themis at Burnley College’s £100 million Princess Way Campus.
