Elephant walk is one of the oldest traditions at Texas A&M with roots dating back to the class of 1926. When the Aggie football team lost the first two games of the season in 1922, the freshman class marched around Kyle field to the tune of a mournful March in an attempt to break the "curse". Three years later the seniors of the class of 1926 decided to take one last walk around campus. They walked single file with one hand on the shoulder of the man in front him. An observer noted that they looked like “elephants, ready to die” and the tradition of Elephant walk was born. To this day Elephant walk is held before the last home football game and represents the impact the seniors have on the student body.
