Working on receiving passes behind us while keeping forward momentum with a tight turn to change of angle shot.
🔸 What I like about turning back to the puck instead of reaching back for the puck with our stick is that it gives a player a chance to still protect the themselves and the puck against a defender.
1. We start by entering the zone with speed
2. Once the we hit that blue line, a pass will come behind you just enough to still catch.
3. Once that pass is made, we need to rotate our hips to open up and pull that puck into us.
4. We want to make sure we keep our forward momentum going while rotating and pulling the puck in.
5. Once we have the puck, we will rotate our hips back and jam turn at the sticks where we will keep both skates on the ice and picking up speed out of the turn.
6. It’s important to keep good form and equaled balance on our blades to handle the puck properly and smooth.
