The Rock of Cashel is a castle that overlooks its namesake in what is known as the Golden Vale, a swath of fertile land in County Tipperary. Most of the buildings were erected in the 12th century, however, settlement of this area would predate the 5th century. The geography is unique to the area because it sits in the center of a low valley. Local mythology states that Satan flew over the vale biting a chunk out of a mountain a few kilometers away.
