Getting the looks at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance! The 1952 300 SL Carrera Panamericana race car version which gave the idea for the 300 SL "Gullwing" series car built from 1954 - 1957. By the way, its iconic doors were no design gag at all but just an ingenious workaround: due to the space frame construction which made the car extremely light and sturdy at the same time, the application of conventional doors was impossible.
