Happy Memorial Day 🇺🇸 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Not only was Carl Lee McCoy a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend…he was also a Civic Leader, Businessman, and an Advocate for Equality. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ McCoy, a Veteran of the Korean War conflict and member of the U.S. Army 101st Airborne, was listed in the City Business Directory of Kansas City as the first black entrepreneur. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ From 1970, throughout the early 1980s, Carl served as Controller and Administrator of Martin Luther King Hospital, the only hospital during that time period that exclusively served the African American community. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ McCoy was an innovator in many ways - he confounded Staywell Home Health Agency (the first black owned and operated home health agency in the State of Missouri) and the firm Four Star Enterprises (the first computerized tax service in Kansas City and he was the first black entrepreneur in Kansas City to use the Wang computerized tax system). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A lifelong member of the NAACP, Freemason...
