Pride Month wouldn’t exist without the Stonewall riots of 1969. 💪💪💪 Pride may be more openly celebrated in NYC these days with the annual parade, but it didn’t start peacefully. Marsha P. Johnson, a Black trans woman, artist, and activist, was a key figure in the uprising following the violent police raid at Greenwich Village’s gay bar, Stonewall Inn. Because she was willing to throw the first punch and rail against police brutality, she’s a lasting model for taking action in every aspect of life. As a company we’re donating funds to MPJInstitute and princessjanaeplace. In addition to these great organizations, upon learning of the financial struggles of thestonewallinn, we’ve made an additional donation to their GoFundMe.
