Shot my first 4 tintypes today. If you aren’t familiar with wetplates, they are basically hand made metal (tintypes) or glass (ambrotypes) film, made from collodion coated metal/glass dipped in silver and shot while wet, then developed before your eyes. The process is just like shooting in the 1850’s and is really something to behold. Lots of room for improvement on my end. Need to work on pouring collodion. Definitely need to work on pouring developer. Need to figure out prevent some of the fogging issues I have going on. Need to work on varnishing as well. Basically, I need more work all around, but Im still pretty happy with the results.
Im looking for people to help me out by letting me take their portraits. If you have time, please let me know.
