We’ve replaced our fence three times since we moved in. Each time we did it ourselves because “right now, we don’t have the budget for it and it’s going to be expensive”. We live in a windy coastal garden where the North wind likes to batter the life out of our fence so we’ve had no choice but to repair it multiple times and replace panels. Do you know how much we’ve now spent on uprights and fence panels? Yep, thats right! Far more than we would have if we’d just done it properly and used a professional in the first place. Is there a moral here? Um, yes. Had we looked at the long term, the fact that the storms and our particularly windy garden was going to necessitate a lot of fence upkeep, we’d probably have invested in a more stable and robust fence earlier even though at the time we felt it stretched our budget.
