I love what I do. I know I'm lucky in that respect. My background is in television - first I was in planning, buying, scheduling and analysing programming to suit the target audience then I went into the more creative side of scripting and voicing. I didn't know it then but by the time the company I worked for got eaten up by another one I had under my belt a full set of skills and experience that crossed over beautifully into social media management. It took me a while to realise it, of course. But now I get to explore that creative side even more and put my "clipboard skills" (as my Mum liked to call it!) to good use. I would never have dreamed that after 20 years in broadcasting, a few off for "kid raising" and a few years part-time swimming teaching, I would be able to embark on a role that excites me, challenges me and fulfils me.
