Taking my own advice today. I see what my daughter needs right now and I’m trying so hard to be there for her. And then I realised that I never really had that. Not because I had a terrible mother. I didn’t. She was loving and strong. She didn’t know, though, some of the painful things I went through. Those were the times I needed the “mental health “ talks. Back in the 70s, mental health wasn’t something we thought about. Now we realise its importance. So I’m striving to be there both for myself as well as my loved ones. That’s the bonus of ageing, I guess.
