A Queen Bee is the woman who undermines her female colleagues and feels no moral obligation to support other women. Studies have shown that this behaviour is more likely to occur in women of an older generation and is likely to have been triggered by the fact that they have faced gender discrimination in the workplace. Negative stereotypes about women, like that they are less competent than men, can leave individual women worried that their career path may be stunted if they are primarily seen as just a woman. This belief encourages them to distance themselves from other women colleagues so that they aren't tarred with the same "feminine" brush. ⠀
