Were you ready for that alarm clock this morning?
Getting back into the swing of things hasn’t been so bad for me today. The sun is shining and, thanks to a friend needing us to take her daughter to school, we were up and ready to go first thing.
I’m brilliant at starting afresh…. I’m not so brilliant at keeping momentum going. And the first week back can feel overwhelming with a huge “to do” list in front of you. So in my effort to be more productive I’m trying out a new method for keeping on top of my daily work flow. I’m setting a timer. For 1 hour and 30 minutes I’ll work continuously on my to do list, then for 20 minutes I will ease back - check emails, do some fiddly things, make a cuppa, that sort of thing.
I’ve already done my first batch and it’s been pretty productive. I’ve also been advised not to add too much to a to do list as that can add to a sense of failure if you’ve not achieved it. So 3 - 6 items is the target.
