Is it possible to become a tap dancer at 51? There's a lot to be said for learning a new skill. And it doesn't have to be anything big to make a difference to your psyche. Something simple, like learning to mend your clothes, learning to bake bread or wire a plug even. ⠀

Engaging in a project can put in you in a meditation-like flow state that’s helpful to mental health. Finishing a project, or mastering a mini-skill, can boost your confidence. And each mini-skill handily boosts your ability to learn the next one. So just go for it. I recently patched up a rip in my favourite jeans and it still feels satisfying to know I did it and I don't have to go and spend a bunch on a new pair. Now I've got some cash to splash on some tap shoes 😃⠀
