There is, according to many women, a wonderful light at the end of the tunnel. The phrase, PMZ was coined in the 1950s by the legendary American anthropologist Margaret Mead, who defined it as a “physical and psychological surge of energy”. At 48, she had persuaded her doctor to give her shots of oestrogen for a circulatory problem “and it worked” she reported in a medical history.
