This picture brings me so much happiness. This is me when I was 15, fighting for the European and world karting championships in Italy. So many of you see the success today perhaps without the knowledge of how I got there. The proud black man to the left, my father, worked 4 jobs to keep me racing in the early stages. We didn’t always have the best equipment but we did it as a family. My two beautiful mothers in this photo, they held us together through the tough times. Behind every successful man is a strong beautiful woman, well I had two. The little guy, my incredible brother, inspired me and inspires so many today. See, we never gave up no matter what was thrown at us. We earned the right to be there and fight for our country even if some didn’t want to allow it. Today I race for the best team in the world, a place I’ve worked so hard to earn. Not a day goes by where I forget where I’ve come from or who/what I’m fighting for.
