Today was the first holiday just us. Not because of COVID, but because we lost two special people in our family. It’s amazing how you go from everything being the same as it’s always been and expected to be. To suddenly it’s just you, the notes/recipes you hopefully scribbled down and the details you hopefully remembered. The people you counted on to guide you and teach you a recipe for the millionth time, just to be sure you will always remember - they’re gone now. And the panic and emptiness is just... well... heavy. You didn’t know how much it all mattered. This was our first holiday just us, and it was hard. Holidays will always be hard now. I’ll always be missing my grandparents, every day. But especially on holidays. Being transparent is something that my account is built on, so this is my moment of honesty as we deep dive into the holiday season. Feeling all the feelings, because I am... well, human.
