In 2023, the African country grappled with the peak of its longest-recorded drought, only to face the devastating consequences of severe flooding caused by the ongoing El Niño at the end of the year. With this phenomenon still exerting its influence, floods are predicted to wreak havoc again in April. Agricultural livelihoods must be prioritized at the core of emergency responses to mitigate the impacts of climate disasters. The #UnitedNations is providing critical assistance to farmers and local communities in Somalia to help them build resilience in the face of the climate crisis.
