#feelgoodfriday news? We sure do! For this Field Notes Friday, our videographer, Devan, shares about her trip to Haiti in January.
“Art and creativity may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of missions. But as a creative, I connect with and understand God through art. And at our project in Haiti, I got to see God show up in big ways through creativity. I lead crafts at both our Hesed Children’s Clubs, and the kids had a blast. They juggled cotton balls and glued googly eyes to make sheep, little reminders that Jesus was their Good Shepherd. ‘He’ll leave the 99 to save the one,’ they learned. Then came the second craft, the one the kids struggled to complete. I scrambled to come up with another. But our international partner, Jean-Marie, stopped me. She insisted I stick to the original plan. ‘Our education system focuses on memorization and analytical thinking,’ she told me, ‘so many of these kids lack the confidence to create art.’ The chance to ...
