Enjoy this update about Tina, a child in our Place of Joy program in Mozambique. ⠀ ⠀ At three years old, Tina lost her parents to HIV. Now, she lives with her grandparents. Most seasons, their garden produces little to nothing. When it does yield a harvest, Tina and her brothers share a plate of rice and cassava for dinner. Over time, she has learned to pay the hunger no mind. ⠀ ⠀ Two years ago, we found Tina. Her HIV went untreated. Her muscles ached. She suffered from nausea and night sweats. Now, she attends Place of Joy. Our international partners, Ramizia and Helena, take her to the hospital. She receives government-provided HIV medicine. Our meals help her body digest the medication. With a satisfied stomach, she has energy to play. ⠀ ⠀ Tina is known for her cheerful spirit. She talks to everyone—adults and children alike. ⠀ ⠀ We are thankful for Tina’s transformation.
