The Sens are officially done for the calendar year. They now have eight postponed games, seven of which are at home. I would not be surprised if their games on Saturday, January 1st in Toronto and Monday, January 3rd vs Minnesota are also postponed. The NHL currently seems to be more worried about losing revenue from capacity restrictions, since US teams seem to be able to play at home and Montreal had a game vs Boston postponed a few weeks ago because they were planning to have no fans. However, there is no guarantee that they will be able to equal or increase their revenue in these postponed games. For example, Saturday’s game against Pittsburgh originally had 16,000 tickets sold. This is partly because it is on a Saturday during the holidays. Rescheduling the game for a random Tuesday in February will not generate the same amount of fans since more people tend to go to holiday games.
