Trying something new here. Since I’ve got nothing to do while everything is closed, I’ve been taking a look into some more advanced stats. Pythagorean wins is GF^2/(GF^2)+(GA^2), with GF being goals for and GA being goals against in a season. This gives you what the team’s win percentage should have been, and then multiplying that by the number of games in a season to get their expected number of wins. I did this for each of the Sens last five seasons, and they were all projected to wins more games than they actually did, except for the year they had their playoff run. These extra wins wouldn’t have gotten them into the playoffs, especially the past couple years, but it is still interesting to think about. -
