As a child I remember getting in trouble for talking at school frequently. It was just so hard to sit there quietly all day long, especially when I was by my friends! It's still tempting as an adult to whisper to a friend when in a meeting or training. So why do schools expect young children to sit quietly for the majority of the school day? At school children need time to interact with each other. They need to learn academic AND social skills. Montessori children are free to work alone or with a friend. Students are able to work in small groups so long as they do not disturb their classmates. The children move freely about the classroom and choose what to work on next. A child's experience in a Montessori classroom is more similar to and helps prepare them for adult life. #mindsprout #oldtownspringtx #hybridschool #montessoriforlife #houstonhomeschooolers #woodlandstx
