By far, my favorite part of Montessori is the math. In my opinion it is brilliant. Everything is very hands-on and the children are given visual representations of mathematical concepts. The golden beads represent place value from ones to thousands. The bead cabinet teaches skip counting, squaring, and cubing. The bead frame is used for addition. Children understand the why behind math rather than relying on rote memorization. First the kids are given concrete materials.
