Landforms, boring right? Not in Montessori. Today we learned about the following landforms: lake, island, isthmus, strait, gulf, and peninsula. They were made in trays with terracotta clay and water with blue food coloring. After discussing all the landforms, we talked about how ships have to sail all the way around continents joined by an isthmus. Ah, but wait! We cut a piece out of the isthmus and we have a canal. So then, we talked about the Panama Canal. The kids were amazed that humans could create a canal.
