For the past few months I’ve had the goal of photographing a Great Horned Owl in Rocky Mountain Arsenal. As someone with very little patience this was a hard & frustrating task, but patience & determination persevered as I got my shot last night. The Owl pictured is actually a different Owl from the one I’ve been trying to photograph as a few months before my Girlfriend summere4 spotted a nest (best spotter around) with an Owl in it. I have been sitting outside the tree line for the past few months just waiting for it to take flight so I could get a better shot, but every time I sat waiting, the Owl continually sat in it’s nest out of my camera’s reach. Back to last night, as I was driving through the refuge I spotted a dark shadow in a different set of trees than the other Owl’s nest so I decided to stop. As I got closer & saw what was in the trees I had to contain my excitement as I didn’t want to scare the Owl off. I finally got my shot of this elusive stoic creature. Wildlife photo...
