You know your credit score is an important number during the home buying process, but what does that little number mean?
Your credit score helps lenders determine the amount of risk they are taking on if they give you a mortgage loan. Scores range from 300 – 850 points and are based on your payment history and ability to repay your debts on time. Late and missed payments will both lower your credit score. Higher scores can make creditors more confident that you will repay your loan. Most consumers have credit scores that fall between 600 and 750, and in 2020, the average FICO® Score in the U.S. reached 710. If you don't know your credit score DM me, and I'd be glad to help you check your credit without a hard inquiry or refer you to one of my trusted lenders for more information.
