Through travel we can simultaneously feel a sense of freedom and of belonging. If we have the means and a passport, we are free to roam and explore the world. However, as we learned seemingly overnight with the U.S. government’s Muslim travel ban in 2017 and the complete global shutdown to contain the COVID-19 virus in early 2020, this freedom to traverse can be taken away in a heartbeat by a stroke of a pen.
