Did you know… That the origin of Zombies comes from Hatian folklore, in which a body is reanimated through various methods like magic or voodoo. The English word "zombie" was first recorded in 1819, in the history of Brazil by the poet Robert Southey, in the form of "zombi." The Oxford English Dictionary gives the word's origin as West African and compares it to the Kongo word “nzambi” (god). Some authors also compare it to the Kongo word “vumbi” or “mvumbi” (ghost, revenant, corpse that still retains the soul), or “nvumbi” (body without a soul). The more you know!
