Factual Friday: One of the many unique qualities of a Cirrus is CAPS (Cirrus Airframe Parachute System). This opens an entire canopy over the aircraft to help it float down safely to the ground in the event of an emergency. This is standard on every Cirrus aircraft - even the Vision Jet. Since May 1, 2021 there have been 122 CAPS deployments which have saved over 200 lives, several of which have performed successfully even outside of their published parameters - pretty impressive statistics. As an additional layer of safety, we teach pilots to incorporate a CAPS briefing into every takeoff so it’s the first option if necessary.
