"Pictures like these are the reason most photographers search for wild horses: Raw expression of power. 🐴 In reality these moments are rare, because groups usually solve their problems in a calm way. This situation actually caught me by surprise. I was focusing on young foals playing when I suddenly heard hooves and a neighing behind me. When I turned around I saw these two stallions who belonged to different herds running towards each other. Normally they are careful and start to sniff each other for greeting, but not these two. It seemed like they had history. They raised up, reared and a huge noise cut the air when their shoulders banged into each other. A sound I will never forget. It took 3 seconds and all was quiet again. I was taking photos of the scene while my brain was on autopilot, fascinated by what was happening only a few meters away.
