"Deep Blue was sighted on Sunday, January 13th. I am one of two original divers who were first in the water with her. We made sure to get ID shots as well as shots to later estimate size. It was an absolutely breathtaking experience, and really quite humbling to be in the presence of this great shark. She is an absolutely beautiful and magnificent being that both commands and deserves respect. That being said, swimming with her and documenting her behavior as she fed and dove and fed for hours over the course of the day was both exhilarating and serene. All her movements were efficient but still beautifully fluid. To be totally honest, I've been a bit more afraid of the media than I was swimming with Deep Blue. . . .
