“The ‘Sturgeon’ Full-Moonset of August 26, 2018, against the iconic shape of the saguaro cactus in Arizona. Making such images is as satisfying as it is challenging. When outdoors I am always looking for potential photo subjects, particularly earthly objects like a lone tree (or in Arizona, a saguaro cactus) that may, if the alignment is possible, provide a nice image against the rising or setting moon or sun. There are many things to coordinate, and one that was not possible in this image is the perfect timing between moonset and sunrise such that color is added to the moon (not seen here), and the foreground becoming slightly visible.
