Dogs have an incredible ability to sense and understand emergency situations. Their acute senses, like heightened hearing and smell, allow them to detect changes in their environment that humans might miss. Many stories have surfaced about dogs alerting their owners to imminent dangers, such as fires, medical emergencies, or natural disasters. Their strong bond with humans, along with their intuitive nature, often makes them perceptive to shifts in energy and behavior. This morning, Tux was able to sense my change of energy and behavior while dialing 911. There was an erratic driver that could not maintain their lane causing them to go off road as well as head into on coming traffic. After several minutes of following this person, they stopped in the turn lane before a major intersection and sat there. Normally, Tux gets incredibly antsy if we’re idle too long in the car.
