Reposted from atomic_trends Many #brownbear, known as #grizzlybear in N America, depend on a yearly bounty of wild #salmon to fatten up for winter. For salmon populations to remain healthy, rivers must be free from dams and other obstacles that stop them reaching their ancestral #spawning grounds. I had the pleasure of seeing brown bears in the wild in the #shiretoko national park in Hokkaido, Japan. Despite their size, they looked so peaceful foraging for roots by the riverside. Nuclear is the most energy dense source of power we have. With #nuclear, instead of industrialising #nature, we leave #rivers for the #fish, forests for the birds and deserts for the tortoises. #worldfishmigrationday #wildriver #alaska #arctic #canada #russia #hokkaido #japan #bear
