In June 2010, the VEYRON 16.4 Super Sport set the speed record for road-legal series sports cars, hitting an average speed of 431.072 km/h – 427.933 km/h on the first run and 434.211 km/h driving in the opposite direction. To achieve this unique record, the W16 engine gets its air from two NACA ducts integrated into the roof. The front air intakes have been expanded and reshaped. The back has been revised with the double diffuser and a centrally arranged exhaust system. The VEYRON heralded a new era in the new millennium and catapulted super sports cars into a new dimension.
